At West High (or any other high school in the district) there are a bunch of AP classes that you should consider taking. Keep in mind, AP classes are generally more difficult than regular ones and in order to manage your coursework, choose AP classes that are interesting to you. Here are a list of some nice AP classes at West High that I personally took

11:41
Math: AP Calculus, AP Statistics

11:53
Science: AP Physics, AP Chem, AP Bio

12:13
Humanities: AP Human Geo, AP US History, AP Gov

12:33
Social Sciences: AP Macro Econ, AP Micro Econ, AP Psychology

13:10
Foreign Languages: AP Spanish, AP French

13:47
Some of my favorite AP classes: Psychology, Econ (Micro/Macro)

19:00
what do you mean family responsibility in EC?

19:04
Some activities I was involved in: Math Club, Violin, ICMC, JETS

19:57
My extracurriculars: Math competitions, Violin, ICMC

20:39
I personally wasn’t involved in that many activities, but what colleges are looking for (more than quantity) is quality: I spent significant time on those three which is important. Having a few activities where you are heavily involved in will also help for your college essays (more on that later)

25:08
Personally, I found it quite useful to look at past successful essays not only to come up with a topic but also to kind of see the structure and also the admission committee’s comments on why it was a good essay. One great resource is https://apply.jhu.edu/application-process/essays-that-worked/

48:12
The early period is generally in October/November, whereas the regular deadline period is late December/early January. If you feel that you can improve your application (e.g. if your essays need further revising), do not rush into submitting an early application. This is especially true for schools like MIT who defer a large chunk of its early applicants to the regular pool.

One thing to keep in mind is that many scholarship application deadlines do not fit into the early or regular period (e.g. late november or early december)

when you said “tangible result” of EC, would you please show yours In Detail because I am not sure what could be quality for “results”?thx

01:24:09
For AP, do 3's give a negative impression to AOs, especially for Asian students, as everyone is getting 5's? Which looks better, honors level class with an A vs. AP level class with an A and CB score of 3?

01:25:59
You guys all go to MIT, would you please tells us why you choose MIT? What does MIT attract you?

01:26:03
I heard that if you take an AP class but don't submit the score, colleges automatically assume you get a 3 or lower?

01:28:58
