(Also you can ask the question here if you want and I’ll read it)
Joel Lewis
01:09:03
OK here's my Q: I got taught Macromedia Director at university in 2003, then it got cancelled and I lost my means to income, so I swore I wouldn't use something non open source ever again. I feel like a similar thing is happening now with Unity and Unreal. As open source advocates how can we help get the word out about the possibility of owning the means of production in a political sense and in a caring way?
Nick Fox-Gieg
01:10:10
Aw yeah studying Director in 2003 only to realize what was up the following year :D
dbeecham
01:10:27
Excellent question!

Doug Goodwin
01:11:53
Same here—I made a living putting Director on CD-ROMs. Remember those? At least the core ideas translate.
Joel Lewis
01:13:10
Great caring answer
Faria Huq (Bangladesh)
01:13:51
A philosophical question: How do you come out with these ideas of creative toolkit? Do you regularly communicate with artists to understand their needs?
Faria Huq (Bangladesh)
01:14:15
Another question regarding the link of AI and art toolkit: Do you think GAN or CLIP can play a role in this?
Nick Fox-Gieg
01:14:58
@DougGoodwin Ha, wait, weren't we literally in the same Director class, or have I got the wrong Doug Goodwin
Char
01:15:08
I see! Thank you! (Sorry my headphones died in the middle)
Doug Goodwin
01:16:36
Yes, @NickFoxGieg the very same!
Nick Fox-Gieg
01:17:09
I wonder what happened to those proto-Arduinos in lunch boxes that could work with Director over serial
Duane King
01:17:21
Thank you for this talk—and this series. Inspiring.

How was your transition from a clinical psychologist to the career you have now? I personally am a student pursuing a masters in data science, but really REALLY want to work in a much more creative field, hence the question about your journey into the world of creative media
