Can you show us the code that changed for animation
Chirag Davé
35:27
Ah so we should expect to see something like processing
Edward Deaver

That's really cool!

feels like creating a new Minecraft world :)

Question for later: Why canvas? What attracted you to canvas and the browser for creative coding?

Do you make vector files (eg SVGs) for a plotter?
Doug Goodwin
51:02
Ahhh, ok!
Zach Lieberman
51:07
There’s your answer Doug !

Yang Su
53:18
Do you need to process the SVG in certain ways to make it easier for the pen plotter (eg break into paths)? Or is that automatically done by the axidraw.
Doug Goodwin
53:25
<3 !
LAINE MOSER
54:10
can data or information be input into the code to use to create the work? ie if you had a movie of something could you source the movement of an image to then create another work? (sorry! i really don’t understand code! but am an artist and love your practice!) thanks!
karthik
54:29
What are the fonts that are being used in the presentation?
Mike Heavers (he/him)
55:16
Really helpful - I always struggle with dropped frames.
Devin McGloin
55:24
@Yang Su, when you plot you generally use the axidraw extension for Inkscape. There’s a patch optimization function included in it, but you have to run it before. It isn’t done automatically
Devin McGloin
55:35
*path optimization
Yang Su
55:56
Thank you! That’s helpful.
Ambika

canvas-sketch also has some path optimizations in its pathsToSVG() function https://github.com/mattdesl/canvas-sketch-util/blob/master/docs/penplot.md
Edgardo Avilés-López
59:29
Can you talk about your process on finding and choosing printing services (even paper) for your posters? They are super high quality!
Rob Baker (CCL)
01:00:11
Well y’all can try to take canvas-sketch from my cold, dead terminal. Big love :)

I personally struggle with working a coding job, and then not feeling so exhausted fro it to work on creative coding and tool building. Any advice around this? Have you run into this?
animanoir.xyz
01:06:58
i was thinking of moving into a more "creative coding" corporate job, but I´m fearing I´ll hate it then
Jeff (@ippsketch)
01:07:06
✋ canvas-sketch looks awesome! I use p5js instead of vanilla js canvas. Can p5.js be integrated with canvas-sketch?

[Q] On the note of tool building, once you are invested in building the tool, how do you decide the scope of the tool?
Ryan Padgett
01:09:24
How do you balance your time with paid work vs creative exploration and tool making? Does one overtake the other sometimes?
Devon Bray
01:09:30
Do you have a mental framework to help you decide when to make a new tool vs build on one you already have?
elianamejia
01:09:56
Is this your full time job? or do you do other type of works to pay the bills.. :P . Amazing work!
