Dear Christoph,I have sent you an email requesting an official permission for translating your daylighting handbooks to Farsi, but unfortunately I hav not received any answer yet!WHY?

36:38
Hello Everyone, please reserve this chat for program specific questions. Thank you!

01:02:59
Hello! To that point on wide range of academic backgrounds, what are the opportunities for PhD students to work cross-disinplinary with other departments (eg. computer science, sociology, etc.) Is the student able to invite poeple from other schools as part of the dissertation committee?

01:06:02
Hello! I´m an international student, i have a 5 year B. Arch from Argentina. I am hesitating between a professional or post professional master's degree. Could get licensed if i pursue a non-professional degree? Is professional degree synonym for AIA accredited? Thank you!

01:07:01
So would SMarchS program have studios? What about SMBT?

01:08:51
@Candela, There is a foreign licensure path in NCARB, you will need to send your transcripts and have necessary work experience axp hours and taking the ARE 5.0 exams.

01:09:13
If you are a foreign licensed architect.

01:09:37
Thank you Devaki!

01:09:40
Hi, would anyone please send again the google doc mentioned for questioning? many thanks!

01:10:26
Hello Qianqian, you can submit your program specific question here in the chat. Thank you.

01:11:50
@Devaki would my work experience need to be in the US or home country?

01:13:25
@Lucy, each BT graduate student has their own dedicated desk to work at. Some SMArchS students may take 1-2 advanced design studios or research workshops in the course of their degree. SMBT students don't typically take studios.

01:13:53
Thank you so much!

01:17:06
For PhD students, is it required to be the TA in MIT in order to get fully funded?

01:17:10
@Candela, It needs to be under a US licensed architect .. They allow some of your hours outside of usa too if the architect that supervised you was a us licensed architect… Some of them could be internship hours too while in school and others need to be full time work experience. You will also need to be licensed in your home country. Depending on your country of origin, you could have easier options. Please check ncarb.org and aia.org.

01:18:43
If I have a master degree in architectural engineering, could I still come in to the SMBT program? Or can I apply to the phd program for building technology?

01:19:16
@Devaki thank you very much!

01:21:46
Hi everyone! Just to clarify Christoph’s words: we are organizing in the backend all the questions on a google doc, but please keep posting questions here in the chat. Thank you!

01:22:39
Hi can the link for the google doc be posted again please?

01:23:39
Sorry for the confusion... please post any questions directly in the chat here.

01:30:48
Hello, these questions are for everyone: what particular math and computing concepts/ skill sets do you find most integral to your research?

01:37:18
For the statement of objectives, when we say it should be maximum 2 pages, does that include the references?

01:38:36
@Ken, yes, the two-page maximum should include any references.

01:39:16
Great thank you, and what do you value more IELTS or TOEFL?

01:39:27
How about interview with faculties?

01:40:08
For the English proficiency exams for international students does it matter if you are currently schooling in the United States.

01:40:18
@Ken, we usually look more closely at TOEFL.

01:41:51
I am an M.S. student in the United States. Do I need to take TOEFL to be considered as an applicant for Ph.D. program?

01:41:55
Thanks so much guys! In terms of digital fabrication research, is there more research being done by any faculty beyond the fabrication of structural systems?

01:42:04
Would you consider prior research experience the most important aspect of an application?

01:42:39
Are these different "majors" within the BT umbrella or just a slice of the type of research and learning in the whole program? Are graduate students encouraged to express which focus they would like to pursue when applying? What a hard choice for so many fascinating subjects!

01:42:41
will the school be conducted online next year?

01:42:54
Hello Everyone, Answers to general admission questions regarding deadlines, GRE, TOEFL/IELTS, and transcripts can be found on our website: https://architecture.mit.edu/overview/admissions. Thank you.

01:42:57
Are there any TOEFL exemptions possible for international students currently doing undergrad in the United States?

01:43:21
According to statement, what is the typical framework of a research proposal?

01:44:13
Could anyone paste a link for the doument? Thank you.

01:44:31
Please post your questions in the chat, there's not a public document

01:46:31
Regarding the PhD application, in general how much of experience do candidates have. Also on the BT website, there is a lot of GSD graduates mentioned as well. Is there any collaboration between the two schools?

01:51:09
Would it be possible to include two potential research proposals in the SOP or would it be better to focus on one, given the size limit of two pages?

01:55:23
