Crazy Contraptions: Cranks and Cams
An MIT Museum Virtual Idea Hub Activity:

Use all sorts of materials to build a chain reaction with interacting moving parts! Throughout the month of April, we’ll experiment with different mechanisms to build, test, and connect sections of the reaction. Then, send us a video of your creation and we’ll combine them all into one big crazy contraption!

For this session, you'll need to bring:

• Cardboard
• Scissors
• Tape
• Paper
• Marbles or other balls
• Pencils
• Toothpicks or bamboo skewers
• String

Other Optional materials:
• Rubber bands
• Cups
• Silverware
• Cans, bottles, and other recyclables
• Spools
• Dominoes
• Legos, K'nex, or other building toys
• Motorized toys
• Markers and other decorating materials
• Anything you can find and use safely!

The MIT Museum aims to make its online programs accessible to as many individuals as possible. Live closed captioning services (CART) will be provided when requested at least two weeks in advance of a program. Please email mitmuseum-access@mit.edu to request CART services or suggest other accommodations that would help you fully participate in this program.
